About the Writer

Colorado 08 354Northwest Georgia is my home.  It’s the country life for me!

I like people, especially children, and I believe the best about everybody until they prove me wrong. Bossy know-it-alls and lazy whiners are harder to like, but sometimes it can be done.

I graduated from Furman University, where I had fun with my friends and majored in history.   One day a preppy New Englander with good study habits and a bicycle asked, “Do you have a car?”  I answered, “Yes.”  He said, “Do you want to go out?”  Almost four decades later, my husband Ray and I are still crazy about each other- though many claim we are just crazy.

I have worked a wide range of roles in family businesses, but my most challenging career involved homeschooling my three brilliant children. They are now grown, and I am proud to call them friends. I love the people with whom they are sharing life.  Grandmothering is magical.

Family is important.  I have one brother, three nephews, lots of aunts and uncles, twenty-three first cousins, and too many second and third cousins to count.  I love them all, for the most part, usually.

I enjoyed a happy, sheltered childhood.  My mother is my friend and mentor. Daddy is safely home. No doubt he stirs things up over yonder when he is not belting out bass in the heavenly choir.  I miss him.

Random things I can do:  ride a horse, paddle a canoe, smock a dress, throw a great party, catch a chicken, make jelly, drive a stick shift.  I cannot watch a movie on my own television because the process is beyond understanding.

I know A LOT of songs and games.  I love to play and laugh.  I buy too many books and too many dishes.

I aspire to be a serious student of the Bible and regret passing up the opportunity to study Hebrew and Greek- but it’s not too late…

Cats are fine in moderation, but I am a “dog person.”

Things that make me happy: working in my “yarden,” playing tennis, swimming, hiking and camping, reading a good book, banging on the piano, and spending time with friends.  Oh…and golf, if it is a good day.

I am a worker.

I write for fun- stories, poems, plays, letters, books…now a blog!  I hope you enjoy your visit and come back often!
